Installation of facade and interior stucco moldings by LEPNINAPLAST is simple, and you do not need to contact professionals for this. Our company has prepared special recommendations to help you with the installation.
Before starting installation, the surface must be prepared correctly. The quality of the preparatory works determines the service life of the decor. It is better to plan the installation of facade elements on a fair day when the air temperature does not drop below +5 degrees. The base must be dry, because the fastening may not be strong enough if the humidity exceeds even five percent.
Remove dust and other contaminants the pieces of the facade stucco molding.
Clean the facade wall, on which it is planned to install the stucco elements, of mortar and dirt. A spatula is required to remove the solution. Dirt can be removed with a rag or brush.
If present, foci of mold are preliminarily eliminated by treating the surface with appropriate agents and compounds. Oil stains or grease are not allowed on the surface.
Old plaster is tapped, and the existing voids, delaminations and weaknesses are removed.
The completed procedures result in a flat and dry surface, which does not imply peeling. To achieve this, you need to putty and plaster defects and irregularities if they exceed ten millimeters in size.
To restore the surface, you can paste over the wall with fiberglass mesh. Plastering is recommended for brick facades, and the layer should not be less than three and not more than five millimeters.
First, the attachment points must be marked. To do this, use spirit levels and a pencil. The stucco elements are adjusted to size using a miter box, a hacksaw and a ruler.
When the fit has been completed, it is time for installation. Fastening with adhesives is allowed, with the use of mushroom knobs, embedded fasteners, dowels. The sequence of work is as follows:
Elements are placed at the desired location.
Holes in the stucco molding and in the wall are made with a puncher. It is necessary to drill a hole of 0.5 cm in solid brick or concrete, in other materials – up to 0.9 cm.
In the places where fasteners are installed, the protective layer of the facade elements is drilled to the diameter of the head of the anchor device, so that the coating does not deform at the moment of pulling.
The selected fastener is then inserted into the hole. It is recommended to prepare up to four pieces of mounting holes for two running meters. If the panel is to be secured, six holes are required.
The adhesive selected for installation is applied to the seamy side of the facade element with a spatula.
The stucco element is positioned and then fixed with a screwdriver. You can use a hammer to secure the selected mounting hardware.
The joints are sealed with an adhesive, which usually comes out in the process of pulling the element to the installation site.
Large decorative stucco elements are secured with ordinary dowels without heads. In this case, the fasteners are mounted on the surface in advance, before the parts are glued. The holes which are used to put the component on the protruding anchor devices are located on the seamy side, they are drilled so as not to damage the protective layer, i.e., they should fall short by two or three centimeters. Damage to the shell is not allowed.
A gap of up to 3 mm should remain between the parts, but if the element is higher than 35 cm, the gap can be from three to five mm. A gap of up to 6 mm is left under the insulation.
In order to reliably attach a large stucco molding to the surface of the facade wall, it is strongly pressed and secured until the adhesive composition sets in. For this, special props are required. The remaining joints are sealed only 24-48 hours after the final adhesion of the element to the facade wall.
When the elements are glued to the wall, i.e., after 24-48 hours, the joints must be sealed. The procedure is slightly different for small and large parts:
Seams between stucco molding parts of up to 35 cm in size are sealed with mounting glue from the list recommended by our company. Seams are filled with compound until excess comes out.
Solid elements require preparation: through holes are drilled on the left and right sides at an angle of 45 degrees to the seam, which correspond to the diameter of the nozzle of the container with the assembly adhesive used. Glue is pushed into the prepared holes until its excess protrudes along the seam outside the facade element. When the composition dries, a “lock” is formed.
After the glue has completely set – usually within 24 hours – the residues are trimmed along the entire length of the facade stucco molding with a craft knife.
The thickness of the protective layer of the facade elements is chamfered on both sides at an angle of 45 degrees. The point is cleaned and filled with a putty. Our company's experts recommend PS-TechnoPlaster. When the putty has dried, sand all mounting holes and seams.
When the processed joints are completely dry, the facade stucco molding is ready for the last stage – painting. Alternatively, you can cover the decor with plaster by choosing a water-based composition.
Facade stucco molding elements, which are manufactured by our company, are distinguished by a protective acrylic PS-TechnoPlaster coating (Turkey). To prepare the surface of the product for painting, a primer is required. The primer serves as an additional protection against the negative influence of climatic conditions typical for Russia.
For priming and painting parts, use a brush or spray gun. The paint should not contain solvents or acetone. These substances can cause product cracking. Only water-based silicone or acrylic paints are used.
We recommend to provide for a natural slope on the upper surface of the facade elements, or to arrange a drain from galvanized steel to prevent the accumulation of moisture. The joints of the drain connecting with the wall surface must be treated with a sealant. If the thickness of the facade decor is more than 30 cm, the drain is secured on the surface of the load-bearing wall so that it does not rest on an architectural piece.
If you have questions concerning the installation of decor or have doubts as to its correct performance, you can contact our company. Our specialists will perform the necessary turnkey works, and you will not have to deal with this task yourself. Call or send an application on the website – we will tell you more!
The following set of tools will be required in the process:
a ruler or metal tape and a plump bob;
a pencil for marking;
a painting chalkline;
a spirit level, the length of which is not less than two meters, vertical and horizontal;
a miter box;
a puncher and a drill;
hammer;
a fine-toothed hacksaw;
a screw driver;
a craft knife.
A high-quality adhesive composition guarantees tight adhesion of the facade stucco elements to the wall surface with no gaps or crevices. For the mounting of the stucco molding to the facade, our company’s experts advise you to go with the Ceresit CT 83/85 compositions. You can choose one of the following assembly adhesives to bond the components together:
Penosil Fix&Go Montage;
Ceresit CT 84;
Tytan Styro 753.
